Princess Cruises Unveils Next Generation Ship – Sun Princess
Today, Princess Cruises revealed specifics about its brand-new and custom-built ship, the Sun Princess. The Sun Princess will be the largest ship in the Princess fleet and will be able to seat 4,300 passengers. It will also have breathtaking views, cutting-edge entertainment venues, multi-level dining rooms, and next-level cabin amenities. The ship, which resurrected the illustrious “Sun Princess” moniker and put her back into service, stayed faithful to the sleek, clean lines and design sensibilities that were inspired by the Seawitch emblem.
The 175,500-tonne vessel is the largest Princess ship ever built and is scheduled to debut in February 2024. It celebrates Italian heritage by featuring the brand-iconic Piazza and the new feature ‘The Dome,’ a cutting-edge entertainment space inspired by the terraces of Santorini. Construction on the vessel is currently taking place at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy, and it is expected to be completed in the coming months. In addition, Sun Princess will be outfitted with the one-of-a-kind Princess Medallion, which will enhance Princess’s position as the industry leader in providing unique personalized experiences. It is only Princess that can provide the great cruise ship amenities that are typical of the world’s largest ships while also providing the individualised service that is found on the cruise industry’s smaller ships. This makes Princess the only company that can do this.
Beginning in February 2024, Sun Princess will embark on her maiden season of cruising the Mediterranean during the spring and summer months. Afterward, in the fall of 2024, the ship will travel to the Western and Eastern Caribbean from Port Everglades in Florida.
Innovative Guest Experience
The ship is filled with light and connects passengers with dynamic views of the world as well as creative activities. There are more than 29 different dining and bar options available on the ship. The line’s Piazza extends across three levels, producing an architectural element that provides visitors with an outward looking suspended space that is furnished with comfortable sitting and spaces from which they can enjoy ocean views in every direction. In the middle of the Piazza is where you’ll find a magnificent LED screen that can be moved about and set up in a variety of different configurations to broadcast live entertainment content. Along with other Princess favourites like Crooners Bar, Bellini’s Cocktail Bar, and Alfredo’s Pizzeria, a brand-new coffee shop called Coffee Currents will soon open in the area immediately adjacent to the Piazza atrium.
The Dome is another notable building that can be found on the Sun Princess. It is a multi-level covered deck and the very first glass-enclosed dome of its sort to ever be created on a cruise ship. It was inspired by the terraces of Santorini, which can be found in Greece. During the day, The Dome is home to an indoor-outdoor pool as well as a one-of-a-kind water feature that may be enjoyed in a setting that is both comfortable and unwinding. At night, the pool is transformed into a stage, and The Dome is entirely transformed into an entertainment venue with the ambiance of South Beach, state-of-the-art lighting effects, and the ability to provide jaw-dropping aerial performances. The interior design of the ship as a whole draws inspiration from its surroundings and pays homage to the allure of being at sea by providing passengers with uninterrupted vistas of the sea at all hours of the day and night. Sun Princess provides guests with more unique vantage points to take in the breathtaking destinations and ocean vistas that they want to experience on a Princess cruise. This is made possible thanks to the ship’s brighter and lighter décor and finishes.
Suites and Staterooms that Have Just Been Renovated
The 21-deck Sun Princess has a total of 2,157 staterooms, including 50 suites and 100 connecting rooms. It also has greater outside balcony space, and all balcony cabins include an in-room sofa.
The Signature Collection, a brand-new class of luxury accommodations, will also be debuting for the first time exclusively aboard the Sun Princess. The Signature Collection suites have access to the Signature Restaurant, the Signature Lounge, and the Signature Sun Deck, which are all located in a secluded portion of The Sanctuary. These suites also contain premium stateroom amenities.
The accommodations that were formerly known as Club Class onboard Sun Princess and on all other Princess ships will now be known as Reserve Collection. These are the mini suite staterooms that have the best locations. Within the Reserve Collection, there will be cabins designed in the style of resorts called Reserve Collection Cabana rooms. These staterooms will have a balcony and a private cabana, which is an oversized outdoor sitting area. Access to the upscale Reserve Collection Restaurant is provided for guests staying in these premium rooms.
In addition to the ship’s breathtaking design, environmentally friendly features are currently being included into the vessel’s construction. The Sun Princess is one of 11 new ships in Carnival Corporation’s fleet that are powered by technology that utilises liquefied natural gas (LNG). This initiative is part of Carnival Corporation’s focus on green cruising.
Beginning in February 2024, Sun Princess will embark on her first voyages with routes throughout the Mediterranean. On Friday, September 16, at 00:01 local time, tickets for the ship’s first three journeys will go on sale. The starting price per person for a 10-night Grand Mediterranean cruise is $1,789, and the departure date is February 28, 2024.
This will be the third ship to bear the name “Sun Princess,” continuing the heritage of the first ship, which sailed from 1974 to 1988, and the second ship, which will sail from 1995 until 2020. At the time, she boasted the highest percentage of balcony accommodations and the very first round-the-clock eatery on board her cruise line.
In the next months, new information regarding Sun Princess will be revealed. Some of these specifics include additional information regarding cuisine, entertainment, and onboard services. You may get information on the ship by clicking here.
There is also an order placed for a second ship of the Sphere class, which will be of the next generation and will be delivered by Fincantieri in the spring of 2025.
